EBay Sells Most of Skype

Ebay has agree to sell 65 percent of Skype an investor group of private investors led by Silver Lake for about $2 billion to focus on reviving sales at its main e-commerce site.
The investors — Silver Lake, the leader of the group, Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz (Netscape co-founder), and the Canada Pension Plan investment board — will pay $1.9 billion in cash for a 65% stake of Skype, Reuters reports. Ebay, which had planned an initial public offering for Skype, will retain 35 percent of the business.
